The whelping crate for dogs should be installed in a quiet, draught-free place, away from noise and disturbance. It should be placed in an area where the female dog will feel comfortable, and where she will have enough space to stretch out and move around as she pleases.
The anti-crush bars on the dog whelping crate should only be removed when the mother and her puppies are strong enough and able to move around safely without being crushed by the mother.
This depends on the breed of dog and the size of the litter, but in general, anti-crush bars can be removed after around two to three weeks. By this stage, the puppies should be able to move around easily and the mother should be more comfortable letting them out of the crate.
When can the puppies be removed from the whelping crate?
It's important to keep a close eye on both mother and puppies as they begin to explore their environment and get used to their new life outside the crate. Make sure that the area they are in is safe and does not present any potential dangers for the puppies, such as sharp corners or objects that could be swallowed.
